Yangshuo and XingPing

Here are some more photos for the nature lovers! We had the most wonderful time around Yangshuo and XingPing. Great walks and bike rides through some of the most stunning country yet.

The nature can be described as Halong Bay on-land with endless hills and 2 rivers running through.

First we spent 2 days in a small guesthouse 4km outside Yangshuo town. From there we walked along the nearby Yulong river watching the mostly Chinese tourists floating along on their bamboo boats. We’ve probably never seen so many butterflies in one place and at night we saw fireflies.

Gary who ran the guesthouse with his wife Sophia, spoke excellent English as he used to be an English teacher. He is now a tour guide and we asked him to take us on a bike ride around the area along small roads and tracks.

After 2 days we got on the bus to XingPing, a much smaller village. Really charming and atmospheric. This was definitely our favourite destination!

During the day the old town and river area was busy with day visitors however at night it was very quiet. More quiet than anywhere else we’ve seen in the last couple of months.

One day we went on a great trek into the hills we could see from our room. On our way we were joined on the rocky path by a lady who was herding her cows uphill.
